How Often Should You Get an Eye Exam?

We follow evidence-based guidelines to recommend the right exam schedule for your age and needs:

  • Children (0–18): Once a year
  • Adults (18–65): Every 2 years
  • Seniors (65+): Once a year

We begin seeing children as early as 6 months old and encourage parents to start early to support healthy visual development.

Why Regular Eye Exams Matter

Your eyes are constantly changing, and regular eye exams help keep you seeing clearly while protecting against potential issues. Many common conditions, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy, can develop gradually without noticeable symptoms.

Comprehensive exams allow us to catch these early and manage them effectively. We also address everyday concerns like:

  • Digital eye strain from prolonged screen time
  • Driving glare, which can affect night vision and safety
  • Dry eye, which can cause discomfort and blurred vision
  • Presbyopia, the age-related need for reading glasses

Eye exams are essential for updating your prescription and staying ahead of your eye health.

What to Expect During Your Eye Exam

Our eye exams combine experienced care with helpful technology. From start to finish, your visit is thorough, personalized, and comfortable.

Here’s what’s typically included:

  • A review of your vision, health history, and any concerns
  • Visual acuity testing to check how clearly you see
  • Eye coordination and focus assessment
  • Prescription updates for glasses or contact lenses
  • Eye pressure testing and wide-field imaging
  • Early screening for eye diseases
  • Discussion and recommendations tailored to your lifestyle and needs

If any concerns arise, we’ll take the time to explain the next steps and offer guidance on treatment or follow-up care.
